powering trade finance information networks
Millions of prescriptions for pharmaceuticals are written each day, affecting Consumers, Pharmacies, Drug Companies, Distributors and Retailers. The information which is provided with these drugs is typically printed on paper and handed to the patient and may be read or ignored as the patient chooses. With present plans to rollout RFID tags on prescription drugs over the next few years, there is an opportunity to use this technology to improve the way in which accompanying Drug Information is distributed, and to generate benefits in the following areas:
Bonsai Development Corporation (BDC) has reviewed the way in which Drug Information is made available to pharmacists and consumers and developed a model for an on-demand Drug Information Network. This involves the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags on pharmaceutical packages, and the provisioning of a network of tag readers which can provide medical professionals and potentially consumers with on-demand access to appropriate information.
